Major Requirements

8 courses offered next term are explicitly required for the CS major, the DS major, or both. Take in order listed all incomplete courses for which you meet pre-requisites within your major. For courses not required for the major, these constitute highly recommended electives.

CS + DS

CS 151
    MWF 910-1010
    MWF 1050-1150
    MWF 1200-1300

CS 151 is lower priority than MATH 280 for DATA majors and equal priority with all other courses.

CS

CS__ 152
    MW 1020-1150
MATH 251W
    MWF 1200-1300
CS__ 351
    MWF 910-1010

If you have not completed both MATH 251W and CS 152 at the end of the year, you cannot complete the major next year.

MATH 251W has a listed calculus requirement but if you take it after CS 151 (or DATA 151, MATH 138) that is okay too.

DS

DATA 151
    TTh 800- 930
    TTh 940-1110
    TTh 1310-1440
    TTh 1450-1620
DATA 152 or other stat
    MW 1310-1440 (DATA 152)
    TTh 1310-1440 (DATA 152)
    MWF 1200-1300 (MATH 138)
    MWF 1310-1410 (MATH 138)
MATH 280
    MWF 1310-1410
DATA 351
    MW 1450-1620

MATH 280 has a calculus requirement and usually fills with a waitlist.

If you do not complete DATA 151 + some stats next term, you cannot complete the major next year.

Electives

The CS major and DS major both require 3 electives, from within the department or from a list of approved electives, many of which have external prerequisite requirements.

CS + DS

CS 280 (Foundations of Human-Computer Interaction)
    TTh 940-1110 (requires CS 151)
DATA 299 (Statistical Engineering)
    MW 1450-1620 (requires DATA 152)
STAT 341 (Mathematical Statistics I)
    MW 1310-1440 (requires MATH 152)

CS

These all require MATH 251W.
MATH 345 (Complex Analysis)
    MW 1310-1440
MATH 446 (Real Analysis)
    MWF 840-1010
MATH 462 (Number Theory)
    MWF 940-1110

DS

TBD.

Classes of interest

These classes should not be assumed to count for elective credit, but are good to talk to your advisor about if you can't fit anything else in your schedule.

TBD

College Requirements

Graduation requirements include:

As CS/DS major, you will complete 1x MS, 1x 300+ W, and CS majors complete both W requirements.
